Press Release June 2012
Warehouse Sale Saturday June 23rd
After a number of weeks of disruption, the Horsham Matters Charity Centre is now looking even better than before. The development of the site is still going as one half of the building is converted into a supermarket, but much of the work to the sales area in the Charity Centre has now been completed.
From this weekend the new upstairs sales area will be fully open with the new displays of bric-brac, small electrical items, books and CDs, as well as the return of the children toys, which have not been on display for a few weeks. Downstairs the old partitions have been removed and more space created for the larger items of furniture that used to be in the warehouse.
“We are delighted with the way things have worked out” says Centre Manager, Dave Chaffer “the whole place looks brighter and lighter and we’re looking forward to everything being finished. There is still some work to be to done behind the scenes and we have plans to install a lift to improve access to the first floor, but much of the work to the public areas is now completed.”
Over the next few weeks the distinctive petrol station canopy will be removed and works will be taking place to improve the car park. Once the supermarket is open later in the summer, Horsham Matters plan an official grand reopening but customers are welcome at any time. “It’s been a bit difficult for us during the refurbishment works, but we are still very much open for business. Now that we’ve signed a long-term lease with landlord we are here to stay” says Chief Executive, David Sheldon.
Whilst the work was being undertaken Horsham Matters had temporary use of an additional warehouse in Blatchford Road, very close to their permanent location. The landlords have now secured a long-term rental and so Horsham Matters is having a massive sale of their excess stock on June 23rd. “Local residents have been incredibly generous.” explains Operations Manager, Guy Sherlock. “Over the last few months we’ve been able to support a number of local families with goods that they would not otherwise have been able to afford as well as providing goods to a number of other local charities including the Amber Foundation and Sussex Central YMCA. We now want to give everyone in Horsham a chance to grab a real bargain. All our excess stock will be available to anyone who wants to make a donation – no reasonable offer will be refused!”
The Horsham Matters warehouse sale will take place on Saturday June 23rd between 10 am and 3pm at Unit D3, Blatchford Road, Horsham, RH13 5QR. Everything will be available for a donation, large or small, but buyers will have to take the goods away the same day. Items for sale include three piece suites, tables and chairs, sideboards and wardrobes. There is plenty of parking in Blatchford Road and absolutely everybody is welcome!
